ABOUT ABOUT

Set in the mid-1950's during a time of hightened racial and social conflict, BLUE reveals a well-crafted, intricate story as you follow each character's vulnerable journey in search of self-acceptance, love, and freedom.  Maddie, the main character’s love story grips your curiosity and emotion at it’s core. Maddie’s truth is wrapped up in the secret of BLUE as she can no longer protect herself from the truth of who she is and how she came to be. Facing her past becomes the way she finds the love, self-acceptance and freedom she has longed for. Of course,  no story is complete without an antagonist and Lola, the prim, proper, sheltered, naïve, guarded one introduces a story element that has you hanging onto to every second that passes once she enters the picture. Lola’s void is filled in the company of this community as her very presence forces truth to be embraced.

Join the cast of Blue for this stirring performance workshop which includes scenes from the play followed by a thoughtful discussion addressing how  the racial constructs of the 1950's has shaped our societal norms of today and our ability, or lack thereof, to relate to our fellow man.
